Getting started
How to install PhotoCraft and get started
Direct answer: install only from ArtCraft or GitHub Releases, follow the OS guide below, then try a simple PSD open. PhotoCraft is early alpha — expect incomplete features.
What you need
- Windows, macOS, or Linux desktop (see OS pages for notes).
- Official installer or build — never third-party “cracked” mirrors.
- Willingness to work with an early alpha tool.
1. Get the software (official only)
- Open the download hub for your OS.
- Jump togetartcraft.com/apps/photocraftorGitHub Releases.
- This site never hosts installers.
2. Install by platform
3. First launch checklist
- Launch the app; confirm it opens without Gatekeeper/SmartScreen blocks (allow only if you trust the official publisher).
- Create or open a simple document.
- If you need PSD: try a non-critical file first — PSD support is real in direction but still maturing in alpha.
- Learn a few keyboard shortcuts.
4. What to try next
- Examples — visual sense of the UI.
- vs Photoshop — expectations.
- MCP setup — if you want Claude/Cursor automation.
- ChatGPT guide — AI Q&A vs local control.
Common problems
- Wrong app: mobile PhotoCraft AI ≠ this project — clarification.
- Missing features: alpha gaps are expected; check GitHub Issues for your version.
- Build from source fails: use Releases first; follow the repo README for toolchain requirements.
